His work spans classical repertoire as well as jazz and Django-inspired styles.He has studied with Yoonshin Song\, David Halen\, and Hal Grossman\, and appears regularly in both concert and live performance environments.\n\nPatrick Sullivan | Guitar\nA multi-genre guitarist\, Patrick is the formative member of the Hawk Ridge Hot Club. Patrick’s love of Django made him a member of a number of Twin Cities-based groups. A graduate of The University of St. Thomas\, Patrick performed and taught music in the metro area. Since moving back to Two Harbors\, Patrick combines a job doing wood finishing for high-end home projects and performing in a number of groups.\n\nAndy Lipke | Guitar\nAndy Lipke has been a denizen of the Twin Ports music scene since 2004. He studied Jazz music at UMD and currently performs with Boxcar\, Theory of Light\, and the Hawk Ridge Hot Club. He has been known to keep several species of snakes.\n\nTimothy Churchill – Double Bass\nFrom classical orchestra to folk to jazz\, Timothy has performed in many ensembles in the Duluth / Superior region. Currently holding down the bass chair in The DCJB Big Band\, Tim has performed with the DSSO\, LSCO\, vocal ensembles\, and folk groups\, and for 25 years played in ‘The Strollers’ trio.

DESCRIPTION:Enjoy an evening with The HAWK RIDGE HOT CLUB at Larsmont Trading Post on April 24th from 6 PM to 8 PM!\n\nA fresh take on classic hot club style Django Reinheirdt swing tunes\nStarted in the Fall of 2025\, The Hawk Ridge Hot Club brings together 4 musicians who truly enjoy playing music of all genres and whose skills help carry on the tradition of hot club jazz honoring the songs and the musicians that made hot club jazz a unique art form style.\nThe Hawk Ridge Hawk Club plays with minimal electronics and amplification and uses acoustic instruments to bring an authentic sound to the music and provide a cafe style feel to the patrons.\nLian Ojakangas | ViolinLian Ojakangas is a Minnesota-based violinist performing in a range of settings across the region. His work spans classical repertoire as well as jazz and Django-inspired styles.He has studied with Yoonshin Song\, David Halen\, and Hal Grossman\, and appears regularly in both concert and live performance environments.Patrick Sullivan | Guitar\nA multi-genre guitarist\, Patrick is the formative member of the Hawk Ridge Hot Club. Patrick’s love of Django made him a member of a number of Twin Cities based groups. A graduate of The University of St. Thomas\, Patrick performed and taught music in the metro area. Since moving back to Two Harbors\, Patrick combines a job doing wood finishing for high end home projects and performing in a number of groups.\nAndy Lipke | Guitar\nAndy Lipke has been a denizen of the Twin Ports music scene since 2004. He studied Jazz music at UMD and currently performs with Boxcar\, Theory of Light\, and the Hawk Ridge Hot Club. He has been known to keep several species of snakes.\nTimothy Churchill – Double Bass\nFrom classical orchestra to folk to jazz\, Timothy has performed in many ensembles in the Duluth / Superior region. Currently holding down the bass chair in The DCJB Big Band\, Tim has performed with the DSSO\, LSCO\, vocal ensembles\, and folk groups; and for 25 years played in ‘The Strollers’ trio.

DESCRIPTION:This year for National Volunteer Week\, Head of the Lakes United Way is teaming up with our non-profit partners in the Twin Ports and on the Northshore to celebrate current volunteers and spark volun-curiousity for those looking to give back to their community.  We are hosting two Volun-Cheers events that will feature door prizes\, food\, music and a chance to mingle with volunteers\, volunteer coordinators\, leaders from local non-profit organizations\, sponsors and participating businesses.  This event will be followed by a screening of a local documentary\, “the Middle Ground\,” highlighting the work of local volunteers with the Duluth Center of Women and Children in their Nourish Initiative.  The film will be shown at the Harbor Theater at 6:15pm.  Following this screening at 7pm\, the Harbor Theater will show “To Kill a Mocking Bird”.

Gene LaFond has been writing and performing for over 50 years. He has opened for Bob Dylan and has performed original songs twice\, Gene has played numerous venues throughout the years in the Twin Cities as well as a dozen or more times with renowned violinist Scarlet Rivera. Gene has also performed and traveled with legendary folk musician Ramblin Jack Elliott. Amy Grillo began singing around the campfires and in the bars and music venues of Minnesota’s Iron Range. She has a keen ear for harmony and is an amazing story teller! Her songs have a unique\, earthy and relatable feel. Her sweet harmonies and lyrical talent are a perfect compliment to Gene’s vocal and guitar picking style.
