SUMMARY:A Walk To Grandmother Cedars
DESCRIPTION:Take a slow-paced walk to a grove of old-growth Northern White Cedars that survived the logging era. These Grandmother Cedars are estimated to be 300 – 400 years old. We will be taking about a 1.2-mile hike (round trip) along the Zhaaboominikaani-ziibi (Gooseberry River) to a destination spot\, where we will have a short lesson. You will learn about gizhiik\, one of the four medicines\, and how these important trees have persisted throughout recent historical events. \nAppropriate for all ages. Traction cleats or snowshoes will be available for adult participants (no youth sizes). If conditions are slick\, youth can use hiking poles to gain better traction. \nAn indoor activity will be available if winter hiking conditions are unsafe (windchill\, ice\, etc.). \nPlease meet near info desk inside of the visitor center. \nFree parking is available at the Wayside Rest parking lot (main visitor lot).

DESCRIPTION:Jadell Cavallin is the owner of Little Waldo Farm in Two Harbors\, and has been involved in the local and regional growing community for over a decade. \nShe will present on the current state of honeybees\, native bees\, and how this affects local agriculture. \nCavallin is a volunteer master gardener emeritus with the Lake County Extension Master Gardeners\, a second term board member for the Lake Superior Sustainable Farmers Association\, a grower member and board member for the Farm and Forest Growers Cooperative\, and co-manager of Lake County Humane Society. \nShe also serves as a volunteer Pollinator Ambassador with the University of Minnesota Extension\, and is a Certified Pollinator Steward with the Pollinator Partnership. \nShe has participated in the Two Harbors Farmers Market for over a decade\, and her farm is one of 11 local small farms that make up the Clover Valley Farm Trail. \nProviding Community Education courses focused around gardening and pollinators\, her long-time experience in honey beekeeping\, growing a variety of plants in northern Minnesota\, and all around nature inspired resourcefulness\, brings her love for all living things full circle when able to share stories\, food\, and connection with others.

DESCRIPTION:Photography & Art at the Rock is a monthly exhibit at Split Rock Lighthouse highlighting local artists and photographers whose work celebrates the natural beauty of Minnesota’s North Shore—and beyond.\n\nFor the month of March\, we are proud to feature Aramis Wells\, a self-taught photographer from southern Minnesota.\n\nAramis’s work explores the space between earth and sky—from the intensity of fire scenes captured as a volunteer firefighter to the vastness of the stars rising over the shores of Lake Superior. His photography focuses primarily on landscapes and astrophotography\, with an emphasis on celestial events such as the northern lights\, eclipses\, and the Milky Way.\n\nHe enjoys pushing the limits of his gear\, whether freezing the motion of the International Space Station overhead or creating long exposures that allow stars to paint trails across the night sky.\n\nAramis’s creative home and greatest source of inspiration is Minnesota’s North Shore\, where dark skies reveal the universe and the power of Lake Superior offers healing and perspective. DESCRIPTION:Join us for another fun and creative evening of Art on Tap at Castle Danger Brewery! Each class is led by professional artist and Voyageur Artists member Eric Klepinger. Every session features a new theme and painting style — perfect for both beginners and experienced artists looking to relax\, create\, and enjoy a cold beer while they paint. \n  \nThrough this class\, you will be challenged to choose one color to paint with\, and then paint one half of your canvas with that color\, and then using only that color with black and white to paint on the colored half of your painting and the white half of your painting. This class will show you how to explore negative and positive fields with high contrast painting effects. I have done many paintings like this and it is a real puzzle to work through\, as I will show you. \n  \nClass is $15 for Voyageur Members/$20 for non-members \n  \nClass is limited to 20 participants\, no experience necessary and all the materials will be supplied. \n  \nPlease click on the ‘Tickets’ link to sign-up and arrive by 5:15 pm to secure your place.
