Author Talk with Lynette Reini-Grandell

April 22 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm
Join us for Author Talk with Lynette Reini-Grandell at the Silver Bay Public Library on Wednesday, April 22nd from 6 PM to 7 PM!
Lynette Reini-Grandell will read from her work-in-progress and discuss her research process for writing historical fiction about northeastern Minnesota. The story focuses on changes the lumber industry brought to the land as well as the lives of early settlers in the Homestead Road area and Ojibwe people in northern Minnesota. The story is inspired by the lives of her grandparents who emigrated from Finland to the North Shore of Lake Superior in the early 20th century.
Lynette Reini-Grandell is the author of the memoir Wild Things: A Trans-Glam-Punk-Rock Love Story as well as two poetry collections: Wild Verge and Approaching the Gate. Often inspired by Finnish folk culture and song, she frequently collaborates with Nordic Roots artists in multimedia performances.
She is a fiscal year 2025 recipient of a Creative Individuals grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board. This activity is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board, thanks to a legislative appropriation by the Minnesota State Legislature; and by a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts.
